As academic coaches, we teach Executive Functioning Skills and Study Skills. Our approach uses the school context and learning environment to teach transferable skills that benefit students throughout their lifetime. Unlike a tutor, who primarily works on specific subject matter with a focus on re-teaching, editing and corrections, we aim to build a foundation of skills that enhance overall learning and personal growth.
No. We are not subject matter tutors, however, we do assist students in finding available resources to increase comprehension of subject content.
Executive Functioning Skills are how we manage our time and resources. They include skills such as goal setting, organization, prioritization, time management, time estimation, task initiation and task completion. These skills are essential for managing responsibilities and achieving success in both academic and personal endeavors.

Mastering Executive Functioning Skills as a student is crucial because these skills are highly transferable to adult life. Effective executive functioning is essential for both workplace efficiency and personal life management. Strong executive functioning skills help ensure success both professionally and personally, making them foundational for a well-organized and productive life.
All students can benefit from Academic Coaching, which helps maximize their strengths while addressing areas of weakness. Whether a student requires extensive support or simply needs to refine existing skills, coaching is tailored to enhance their overall academic performance and personal growth.
Yes! In addition to teaching Executive Functioning Skills and Study Skills, our coaches help students increase their attention and focus, and build academic stamina. We also teach students how to identify, monitor, and minimize their distractions.
Absolutely! When students gain confidence in their academic abilities, their anxiety tends to decrease. Our team supports students by teaching them effective study techniques, identifying what to study, and creating tailored study plans. This approach boosts their confidence in handling assignments and exams. Additionally, we focus on developing self-advocacy skills, empowering students to take control and seek the support they need.
Our students range from middle school through college and graduate school.
No. All students can benefit from increasing their Executive Functioning and Study Skills. This includes students that do not have an Individualized Education Plan (IEP) or Section 504 Plan, as well as students who do receive these supports at school.
No, it is not too late! All students have strengths and areas that need support. Some areas of support simply need some refining. All students can benefit from strategies to "work smarter, not harder."
Yes! All appointments are conducted online, so time zones are no obstacle. We serve students across the US, ensuring flexible access to our coaching services regardless of location.
Each session is tailored to the individual needs of the student, so appointments are one-to-one, not in a group.
After the initial appointment, we generally meet with students two times per week, for 20 minutes per session; once at the beginning of the week, and once at the end of the week. As the student progresses and applies new skills independently, the sessions become less frequent.
Initial appointments may involve parent(s), but once coaching sessions begin, they are conducted online directly between the student and the coach. Parent feedback and questions are always welcomed, and touch-base meetings can be scheduled as needed. Generally, there is more frequent contact with parents of middle and high school students compared to those of college students. At the start of the coaching relationship, the coach may provide feedback to the parent(s), but as the coaching progresses, the responsibility for communication and updates shifts to the student.
Yes! Academic and Executive Functioning coaches enhance family dynamics by reducing household tension. The coach takes on the role of holding the student accountable for assignments, projects, and study plans, which helps alleviate the perception of "nagging" and frustration for parents. This allows for a more harmonious family environment and helps the student develop independence and responsibility.
